If you’ve been dreaming for years about the full potential of a well designed LED light fixture, then read on a full rundown of what Mame Design’s finest electronics craftsmen have created. The diminutive Kidney Ecolyte measures just under 6″ square by 1″ deep but the wide angle LEDs throw light over a much larger area. The peak 42 watt output is produced by 12 dedicated high power blue LEDs and another 10 high power RGB LEDs which can produce a spectrum of millions of colors with color temperatures up to 50,000K, that’s really blue. And yes, it has a moonlight function. The finely crafted Ecolyte has not yet been released and it will be limited to a production run of 500 units with a retail price of $900. That price sounds like a lot for a 42 watt light but if this unit is really suitable for lighting up a 24-30″ tank, that price seems right in line for the most sophisticated LED light money can buy, in Japan. The first 500 Kidney Ecolytes are not likely to venture far from the land of the rising sun but if the Kidney Ecolyte really delivers on it’s spec sheet then we can be certain that Mame Design will be developing and releasing more Ecolytes. Follow the break for more views of this exciting LED light fixture.
