The RKM-RD1 is a new remote display en route from Digital Aquatics. The remote display has been one of the most obvious new features of the Apex AquaController system but now Digital Aquatics is set to release a remote display of their own. This new move from Digital Aquatics continues the arms race between the competing aquarium controller manufacturers but DA is expected to price the RKM-RD1 in the neighborhood of $80, undercutting the standalone cost of the Apex remote display by a wide margin. Who knows what kind of feature compromises this remote display had to settle with in order to reach that aggressive pricing but perhaps we’ll see a remote display with plenty of functionality to compete with the Apex remote display. We suspect that this will be a tethered remote display with a wireless version perhaps forthcoming at a slightly higher cost. The RKM-RD1 will simply be announced at MACNA with real-life parts to be displayed at Reef-A-Palooza about a month later.
