Like their name implies, Modreef.com is a new ceramic coral base manufacturer with some unique, modular ideas about what a frag plug should be. In addition to the mundane, flat coral discs made for encrusting corals, Modreef has developed a range of different bases which are especially designed to play with eggcrate: the main line of modreef bases has “feet” that fit neatly into eggcrate squares, with some downstream processes in mind. Several of the flat and mounded coral bases are hollow to allow for the intentional breakage of the base once it has become completely encrusted with coral. Pricing should be in line with other coral frag plugs but the more elaborate pieces may run a little bit more costly.
