The Quick-Precise Adjustment valve featured on the new JNS Shark Cone skimmer is a novel development in the fine tuning of water level inside a protein skimmer. Although we just posted about the JNS Shark Cone protein skimmer, the very finely tuned Quick-Precise Adjustment valve (or QP valve as it is also called) is unique enough to merit it’s own post. With so many new skimmer designs packing a ton of water flow and air into ever smaller bodies, the majority of these designs are seriously lacking any capacity for fine tuning the water level inside the skimmer body. Case in point is the Alpha Kone skimmers; while they push a ton of air and flow into a small form factor, that puny little wedge pipe is woefully inadequate for adjusting the water level inside, prompting most owners to shell out an extra $30-50 for a real gate valve on the outflow. The Quick-Precise adjustment valve appears to be a custom-built, finely tuned gate valve especially for protein skimmer use and we hope that other manufacturers will take note and start shipping skoners with a much better handle on fine water level adjustment.
Quick-Precise Adjustment valve from JNS Aquaria is a quantum leap in skimmer water level control
