There is an upgrade to the original G1 LED light aptly called the G2. This new Maxspect G2 led fixture is much like the original G1 with some added upgraded features. The biggest seems to be in the circuity as we are told that the LEDs are connected to the lamp through an attachment plug which allows you to replace them at your choosing. Some models will receive a timer setting allow you to turn the lights on and off although we would assume that most use their aquarium controllers to control the light times on this light. Each group of LEDs can be controlled separately and the higher end model (230 watt) has 4 different groups. The cooling fans have been upgraded with a new “frameless fan” design allowing better performance and cooling plus its much quieter. There are 6 different models: 60watt, 110w, 160w, 170w, 180w, and finally the 230 watt version. Pricing starts at $384 and tops out at $846 for the Maxspect G2 aquarium led lights.
