Mark your calendars and make sure to head out to BAYMAC tomorrow if you’re in the Bay Area. Not only is this a great lineup of manufacturers, speakers, coral vendors and clubs — but its absolutely free! This year’s BAYMAC is even bigger and better than the last two, with plenty to see and some great corals to grab. We will be at this killer event being held at Chabot College in Hayward, Calif. from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. so make sure you swing on by and say “Hi!” while you peruse the floor looking for great products and some great deals on coral. Besides being free to attend, there will be door prizes awarded every 30 minutes giving you the chance to win something just for showing up. Four lucky winners will also be walking home with a $250 gift certificate to one of the participating local fish stores of their choice, not bad for just walking in the door! More details after the break.
On top of that, the event is featuring a nano tank aquascaping showdown between Matt Wandell of the Steinhart Aquarium and Bay Area Reefers VP and longtime hobbyist/pro Jeremy Foster in a showdown of rock-shaping skill in the one hour competition. To make it even more interesting and to test the mastery of the contestants, they will compete inside a pair of 34 gallon Current USA Solana cubes.
The speaker list is small but impressive featuring Sanjay Joshi, Christine Williams, Joe Yaiullo and Rich Ross all with some very interesting and knowledgeable sessions. Plenty of manufacturers will be on hand exhibiting their wares including some interesting LED lighting companies, so if you’re tired of seeing LED lights online and want a chance to see what these puppies can do in person, now if your chance!
What would a reefing event be without a raffle? BAYMAC has a pretty tasty array of prizes including pretty pricey items (LED lighting fixtures, pumps, aquarium controllers, etc.) from a great group of companies and vendors so plenty of great things to walk home with.
For a complete lineup, floorplan and get an idea of what the show is all about, head over the the BAYMAC website and start planning your Saturday!
