The AquaspaceLED is a long awaited LED lighting product from AquaMedic, a company which did it’s share to popularize the last revolution in double ended metal halide lighting. The AquaspaceLED is equipped with an overall heatsink of a fixture, 120 x 1 watt LEDs which are each riding their own individual reflector. The AquaspceLED is also being billed as a heavy duty aquarium LED light with a saltwater resistant anodized aluminum eclosure which is designed for effective passive cooling. Although perhaps as many as one hundred aquarium LED lights were displayed at InterZoo last weekend, the AquaspaceLED is the only one we spotted which went down the more difficult route of using individual reflectors as opposed to a common reflector or slapping some off the shelf lenses. If the impressive spread and depth penetration of the AquaspaceLED on the 90cm/3′ deep tank below is any indication, the AquaspaceLEd and LED reflectors will definitely have a place in some aquarium LED lighting fixtures. A few of these are already on a boat to the US where we think we heard mention of the price being in the $800-1000 neighborhood.
