The Lumina LED Plus T5 hybrid aquarium light from Blau Aquaristic is the first LED product to join Blau’s diverse line of Lumina aquarium lights. The Lumina LED that Blau demoed at InterZoo looked like a prototype but it’s clearly a one-off for now. The Blau Lumina LED light was clearly made from a Lumina 639, Blau’s 6 x 39 watt T5 light because we can see as much on the product sticker in the top right corner of the pic above. In addition to running the 4 x 39 watt T5 tubes, the Lumina LED also uses 36 additional LEDs with wide-angle and diffused LED light which may be able to run comfortably up to two watts each or 72 watts total, but without any active cooling to speak of so far we can’t see any more than that. We get the feeling that Blau made this light really close to InterZoo, perhaps to gauge interest and to not be left out of the LED sandbox. With Giesemann’s Matrix Plus and Helios hybrid lights being the only other worthwhile LED + T5 hybrids from the InterZoo that we would even consider, we hope that Blau Aquaristic will seize this open segment of the lighting market and give the Lumina LED Plus the kind of design and polish it deserves. More pics after the break.
