The AquasunLED controllable and modular LED light fixture from AquaMedic is a significant departure from AquaMedic’s other LEd light, the AquaspaceLED. Whereas the AquaspcaeLED uses individual reflectors and a heavy duty design, the AquasunLED is a much more refined, attractive residential type of LED aquarium light. The smooth angles and modest heatsinking give the AquasunLED the same kind of aesthetic styling that AquaMedic is known for with their space and sun lights. The core of the AquasunLED is a 12″ square module with 25 LEDs that can be driven to a total power of 45 watts. The AquasunLED module comes in three sizes with one, two and three modules in the 45cm M1, 85cm M2 and 125cm M3 AquasunLED lights respectively. The AquasunLED uses high power LEDs with just a primary optic on the blue and white LEDs which are combined to produce a 14,000 Kelvin color temperature. AquaMedic claims an overall efficiency of 100 lumens/watt and a usable life expectancy of 50,000 hrs. If our memory serves us correctly, the four foot/1.2 meter AquasunLED light was being tentatively priced at 1200 Euros but we don’t expect a firm price in dollars until the lights actually reach AquaMedic USA.
