The lower Beckett injection Revolution skimmer from Korallen Zucht which was first showed off in the US at the Pittsburgh MACNA over two years ago was the first cone skimmer and the first lower-injection Beckett skimmer we ever laid eyes on. Debates on the effectiveness of cone bodies aside, we were always intrigued by the low-down placement of the Beckett air injector. Unfortunately design patent royalties and the KZ premium price of Revolution Cone skimmers has relegated these potentially high efficiency skimmers to the boutique sector of the protein skimmer market. Imagine our delight when Interzoo greeted us with not one but two, more simply built protein skimmers with the low-down beckett injection design. There are slight differences between the Azoo and KZ models such as the height of the neck on the KZ Beckett and that the Azoo beckett came in two sizes but it’s clear these beckett skimmers are from the same mold. KZ told us theirs was an evaluation model and we ran out of time to ask Azoo about their Beckett skimmers but we’ll jsut give you one guess as to which model will be the most “value-priced”.
