The new line of peristaltic pumps from D-D The Aquarium Solution appear to be of a higher performance and durability than what we’re used to. First of all, the D-D peri pumps use Santoprene instead of neoprene or thick silicone tubing which will eventually split with extended use. Further raising the bar is the pump roller head which is replaced entirely for a nominal amount instead of allowing the user to install new peristaltic tubing, often incoreectly and leading to pump or tubing failure. These durability features aside, for us what sets these peri pumps apart is the compatible timer which neatly plugs between the peri pump and the power cord, allowing the user to set the on and off time for anywhere between 1 and 100 seconds. This type of fine timing control will be much more conducive to feeding liquid foods, carbon/alcohol supplements and mineral replenishing supplements. The D-D timer for it’s peri pumps works with the mid-sized 32ml/min and larger 150ml/min peri pumps but not the 1ml/min. All units and timers are on their way to the North American D-D warehouse and should start being available to retailers in about a month. We can’t recall pricing off hand but we do remember that they were very reasonably priced for the peri pumps and timer. Big thanks to David Saxby for demoing the peri pumps for us. Lots more pics after the break.
