They did it to All-Glass Aquarium and now they are doing it again to Kent Marine. We guess it was inevitable that since Central Pet axed the 40 year old All-Glass Aquarium brand it doesn’t surprise us to hear that Central has also decided to terminate what was once the most widely recognized brand name in the marine aquarium industry, Kent Marine. Regardless of whether or not you loved Kent Marine products, we all used at least a few of their products at one time or another and Kent Marine was a power house aquarium supplement developer which innovated many new additives. The Purple Tech you see above is basically the descendant of Kent Marine’s liquid buffer additive, Pro Buffer dKH which was the first to have real noticeable effects on coralline algae growth, and now you see all kinds of buffer and hardness supplements being developed and marketed by their effects on coralline growth. Kent Marine Coral Accel was also an original product that Kent Marine released in the late nineties when coral fragging took off as a major part of the hobby. And let’s not forget about Kent Marine Tech-M, a liquid magnesium supplement which seems to have a real negative effect on some hair algaes. We don’t know exactly when the transition will take place but for us Kent Marine died completely when they slapped the horrifically designed labels on the bottles.
Kent Marine products to be rebranded as Aqueon
