Aluxis appears is a new brand of basic, value-driven aquarium lighting launching from Giesemann, one of Germany’s premier aquarium lighting manufacturers. Known for their cutting edge technology, solid construction and performance Giesemann products often only remain on many hobbyists’ wish lists but with the new Aluxis line, that may change. The Aluxis website is still only in German and very sparse except for one glimpse of a couple of promising fixtures but we are looking forward to see some quality German engineering at an affordable price coming on the market. The Aluxis brand will first be populated with Nep-Tune lights that include the Nep-Tune Line for T5 lights, Nep-Tune Base for metal halide fixtures and the Nep-Tune Pro lights which feature both T5 and double ended halide lamps. The Nep-Tune lights will be housing Aluxis brand T5 and halide lamps instead of Giesemann products and only one or two layers of powder coating and paint as opposed to the eight layers that Giesemann fixtures receive which gives them that race car paint job look. Pricing of the Aluxis fixtures will be considerably less than Giesemann products and probably edging towards being competitive with some of the more traditional fixtures available to reefers today. A few of the first samples of the Aluxis Nep-Tune light fixtures are on their way to the North American distributor and it will probably be late summer until we see wider availability of Aluxis branded products in the US and North America.
