Robertus is an interesting Dutch reefer who has been cataloging his 60 gallon reef tank every two months as it progresses. It’s been a full year since he started adding corals to his reef tank and we’d say he now has a gorgeous mini reef to show off which is as beautiful and diverse as possible for this size of tank. Many of you are probably familiar with the “7 Ps” (proper prior planning prevents piss poor performance or some version thereof) and the reef of Robertus is a perfect example of this slogan. Robert clearly spent a lot of time planning out this reef tank; from the equipment, to the reefscape and it’s operation. Although Robertus may have waited 3 months for the tank to mature before adding any real livestock to it, one year later he has a gorgeous SPS reef to show for it, and it will likely be overgrown within another year. Although it is impressive what Robertus has accomplished with using just T5 fluorescent tubes, we hope Robertus will eventually take up the challenge of repeating these growth and color results with an LED aquarium light. We believe that the generous use of water movement and minimal use of sand substrate is a big part of the reason for the rapid success of Robertus Reef. Can you see any other details which may have helped this tank come along so nicely? For more information on this beautiful reef aquarium project visit the Robertus Reef website.
