The CoraslSky Versa 2 and SL 2 LED lights are now being sold in a second generation which takes the company’s narrow LED striplight and unique LED disc to the next level. More power, more heat sinking and more lensing options are all in store for the Versa 2 and SL2 LED lights, yet at the same price of the first generation versions.
The CoralSky SL2 is shipping now for $249 which will deliver the same 12 LEDs with the option of having the 12 Cree XRE royal blues peaking at 455nm or a combination of half blue and half white LEDs for broad 50/50 lighting applications. The new CoralSky SL2 is now running at nearly three watts each, 35 watts total, which is a lot of fluorescence excitation to be packing in an 18″ strip; you can either run them nominally without lenses or for $20 more, you can add some high performance 60 degree LeDil lenses to get more light penetration in deeper tanks, or to mount the light higher up above the tank for dramatic spotlighting effect.
The Versa 2 is getting a similar makeover with the custom designed heatsink, a optional lens cluster of 50 degrees each and a similar increase in power level. Both the CoralSky SL2 and Versa 2 also feature a thumb screw adjustable mounting bracket so you can angle the direction of your LED lighting goodness. The SL2 should be popping up on the CoralSky website sometime over the weekend but the Versa 2 is available only in very limited quantities until production ramps up.
