The Skimz KONE E Series protein skimmers added three external models recently as announced by the Singapore-based company. Like the internal KONE E counterpart, these skimmers are utilizing the new Skimz E Series pumps. Similar to the other KONE E Series skimmers, it utilizes the conical shape and bubble plate and is available in three sizes to suit your needs for either in-sump or out of sump use. More details and images after the break.
The smallest model is the SK202 that uses the Skimz E8 pump getting 780 l/hr of air draw at 13 watts. The SK202 measures in at 260 x 317 x 635mm, requires a 800 l/hr (approx 200 GPH) feed pump and is recommended for tanks from 200 to 1,200 liters (around 50 to 300 gallons). Needing more skimming power? The SK232 is the next size up using the Skimz E12 pump that gets 1,500 l/hr of air draw at 20 watts. It’s slightly larger measuring in at 282 x 345 x 680mm on a 230mm diameter body and is rated for tanks in the 800 to 2,000 liter range (around 200 to 500 gallons or so). The granddaddy is the SK252 that used a pair of the E12 pumps getting around 1,920 l/hr at 40 watts. This beast uses a 250mm body and is rated for tanks in the 1,000 to 3,000 liter range (about 260 to 800 gallons).
These are pretty nice looking pieces of acrylic and if the pumps live up to their billing, then they should be some pretty groovy bubble-producing, skimming monsters. No pricing or availability yet on these but if you have experience with them or have seen them in the wild, pass along the goodness.
