Mariner Energy is about to have a really bad day because one of their oil rigs in the gulf just went kablooie. That’s right, just went we got the BP oil geyser under control and stopped the gush of crude from that well, Mariner Energy had one of their oil platforms experience an explosion which very well could lead to renewed free flow of crude oil into the Gulf of Mexico. Details are sparse but a legion of US Coast Guard personnel is headed that way to investigate the scene.
