True Lumen LED strips are a new product from Current USA which mysteriously appeared on our doorstep in a box destined for the UK. Without warning we were treated to the new True Lumen LED lunar lights and the 10 inch LED strip, both of which come in a royal blue flavor with a peak of 453nm and the 10 inch LED strip also comes all white flavor. The razor thin True Lumen LED strips consist of four medium output LED with a total output of three watts which are widely spaced on about an 1/8 of an inch of aluminum whereas the Lunar light is a little bit more typical low output LED.
The True Lumen LEDs are powered by a separately-sold power supply which can drive up to three of the LED strips by using a splitter which is also sold separately. The True Lumen LED strips may not be breaking any records in terms of lighting intensity, but they’re certainly suited to twilighting large reef tanks and fish tanks and if you stacked enough of them you could definitely run a small nano reef. No word on pricing or availability as of yet but we’d expect the True Lumens to start shipping to Current USA dealers fairly soon. We’ll follow up with deets when we get them and you can see a couple more shots of the True Lumen LED out of their package after the break.
