New Era Aquaculture is a manufacturer of high quality fish foods which has been rapidly gaining market share in the UK, Europe and abroad for the past five years. More recently New Era signed an agreement with Living Color Enterprises for distribution of their foods in North America. We know exactly what you’re thinking, “my fish foods keep my fish just fine so why should I care?” and we initially felt the same way too.
What is particularly interesting about New Era feeds is that the flakes and pellets are all processed at the lowest possible temperature. It is common knowledge that heat reduces the nutritional profile of food and it destroys many essential vitamins found in the feedstock. To this end New Era has developed processes for preserving the nutrition of the ingredients and their foods are extremely popular with large public aquariums and aquaculture operations.
New Era claims that their processing techniques prevent flakes from leaching nutrition into the water and the cold-extruded pellets are soft enough to squish into any size or shape you like and it can also be pressed onto the glass or into rocks to act as a mini feeding station. Furthermore the cold processed feeds are said to have an incredibly long shelf life of up to two years. We have some samples of the marine and herbivore flake and pellets which we’ll soon be trying out and reporting on. In the meantime you can check out what New Era Aquaculture has to say about their food and be on the lookout for the black jars of New Era fish food to appear on the shelves of your LFS.
