If the Caribbean is overlooked because of the sheer diversity of Indo Pacific species, then the Mediterranean and East Atlantic marine fishes are way overlooked for aquarium use. It’s only recently that we’ve had ready access to West African fish such as Thalassoma newtoni, T. pavo, Coris atlantica, the Goldenheart trigger and the Africanus angelfish but these are still not wildly popular with aquarium stores. Well this video taken at the Spanish island of Fuertventura shows off one of those species including the mane stages of the pavo wrasse. There’s also some triggers, scorpionfish, eels and some schools of Chromis chromis. Either way, it just goes to show you that there are cool, aquarium-worthy fish species in all oceans of the world.
