The AcanLighting A104 is the newest LED light from the young aquarium lighting company and we were quite impressed with our first sighting of the A104 running over corals at the Age of Aquariums booth this weekend. The fanless and moderate output AcanLighting A104 is surprisingly bright, considering this three foot fixture was using up only 135 watts. Most of the two color LED fixtures we’ve seen mostly use a mixture of cool white and blue LEDs giving the tank a cold, frosty kind of feeling. Not so with the A104 which uses a rich blue LED that pulls a lot of weight in the color rendition department. Also the A104’s use of broad angle lenses and a legion of LEDs running at one watt ensures a nice and even spread of light over the length of the tank. Color us impressed with the appearance of corals under the AcanLighting A104 which should become available for sale in about a month or two. There’s one more picture after the break, which was taken with flash but which more accurately portrays the colors of the corals we saw.
AcanLighting A104 delivers excellent color with only two LED types
