The Vitrea 56 is a unique aquarium set up which is very easy to look at. With a high clarity glass tank, a glass sump, a glass LED light and even glass in the trim of the stand, Vitrea’s Unico 56 looks like a million dollars. It may not cost a milion dollars yet the Unico 56 is one of those tanks where if you have to ask how much it costs, there’s still a chance you can afford it. In the case of the Vitrea Unico 56 this is one case where the opulence of the aquarium equipment seems rather in line with the complete price tag of $2140 but the glass-built V-LED pushes the total price tag to $4950.
To break it all down, the tank uses high clarity glass and comes pre-drilled for the use of either a canister filter or a sump system and it costs $481. The stylish stand has glass inserts for part of the sides, it comes in a high gloss finish in white, black or red and it costs $1208. The acrylic overflow box which fits neatly in over the pre-drilled portion of the tank costs $89, all the tubing and fittings will set you back another $118. The cute little glass sump is well sized for the 26 gallon Vitrea Unico 56 with a skimmer section and equally sized variable water level area so that top offs don’t have to be that frequent. Finally, the V-LED light which is also made from glass costs a substantial $2769 with the touchscreen controller.
The complete Vitrea Unico 56 might cost as much as a complete reef setup before you even get any livestock but some well to-do reef aquarists will appreciate the classy look of all that glass. The tank itself is actually a decent price, the stand commands a premium and the V-LED is the only real bourgeois product in the package. We saw a few of these set up at Interzoo and we can assure you that the look was very striking. Even if some reefers don’t go for the entire package, we look forward to seeing this and other high-rolling tanks making our reefs look balling, inside and out.
