SolarMax is making a name for itself for copying designs of some of the best products on the market. When we saw this picture of the latest SolarMax light on Shino Hana’s LSS Laboratory blog, we couldn’t help but notice the strong resemblance to the lighting designs of Vitrea — one of Italy’s finest companies. We’ve seen SolarMax take a heavy-handed inspiration from AquaIllumination’s LED fixture and then copy the ReefBrite TwinArc dual-mode metal halide bulb so its not too surprising to see another borrowed design from this company.
It appears the new LED by SolarMax was being displayed at the China International Pet Show (CIPS) this past week. While we couldn’t find too much more information on this fixture and with a fresh look at the Vitrea line from Reef-A-Palooza the other weekend, we can’t help but notice the extremely close resemblance between the SolarMax and the “Bridge” line of Vitrea LED lighting. Without more information, its hard to say exactly how the new SolarMax stands in comparison to Vitrea’s light but we know the Italian manufacturer wins this battle in our book.
We wonder if SolarMax took a portion of their energy from copying drawing inspiration from other manufacturers and put it into their own design, they could probably come up with a pretty decent fixture on their own. So our call out to SolarMax is to inspire us with your own ingenuity, come up with a product on your own and show the industry exactly what you can do. Until then, we’ll wait for the next unoriginal product from you.
