The red and white candy pistol shrimp, Alpheus randalli, is one of the most attractive and desirable symbiotic shrimp available to aquarists. Very few symbiotic setups look quite as attractive as a randall’s pistol shrimp and a white ray shrimp goby, Stonogobiops yasha.
Imagine our astonishment when we received these pictures of a super white form of the Randall’s pistol shrimp which looks like an exceptional quality freshwater crystal shrimp. The distribution of red is very similar to the popular red crystal shrimp and going by conventional grading scales, we’d say this super white pistol shrimp would be akin to a double-hinomaru SS+ grade. Big thanks to Junkai for sharing these pictures, one more after the break.
