Prodac is a maker of fish and turtle foods from Italy whose foods comes in a plastic lidded container the same as many others. However unlike the majority of the plastic found in our daily lives, Prodac has just announced that their food now comes in containers made from biodegradable plastic. No this doesn’t mean that you can use the lid and container as a substitute for the biodegradable polymer found in biopellets but it does mean that the plastic from Prodac fish food probably won’t find it’s way into the various oceanic plastic garbage patches. As the die-hard coral-huggers that we are, we’d likely give this food a shot based on the limited lifespan of Prodac‘s biodegradable plastic container alone.
