One of the things we absolutely love about nano reefers is their passion to build it themselves, and to DIY something unique and creative. Take this pico reef measuring in at half a gallon, or just under two liters, which has a custom made light and filtration system completely built in. The presenter of this Pico Reef video is extremely proud of his creation which he tells us is completely handmade; the light, the tank and the entire filtration system.
You know you have a pico reef when your live rock and sand is measured in grams, in this case 500 grams, a little more than a pound of live sand and live rock was used to serve as the reef structure and to kickstart the biological filtration. The coral livestock includes a few zoanthids, some assorted polyps, a small piece of gorgonian, a little piece of leather coral and a token Ricordea with some sexy shrimp to ride it. The living portion of the tank is not yet remarkable but the amount of effort that went into putting together a hand made all in one nano reef is.
