Velve OLED panels from Verbatim are perhaps the first Organic LED lighting panel that could be considered for use in an uber high end aquarium light fixture. Whereas previous OLED components cost hundreds of dollars for a tiny little sample of white light, the Velve OLED at least offers some bang for the buck. Sample kits of the Velve OLED are beginning to be distributed and for $1000 you”ll at least get a 14cm x 14cm lighting panel that is completely dimmable and color tuneable with an efficiency of 45 lumens per watt.
The high color rendering Velve OLEDs are not going to replace any light sources any time soon but if you were looking for a way to flaunt your opulence, a razor thin aquarium light made up of controllable Velve OLED panels would be one way to do it. Video demo after the break.
