The United States is receiving their own version of the Elos SpectraChrome in 20k abyss. With previous models Elos made the 14K “coral” and 20K “abyss” SpectraChrome for the US and Europe and they were identical bulbs. However, Elos is introducing the “US version” 20K “abyss” to replace the current version and the current abyss will now take the place of the “coral” 14K in the US. This meets the requests to increase the blue spectrum of both the 14k and the 20k Elos metal halide bulbs. Jason was nice enough to take a few pictures of what these two new bulbs look like on a tank as you can see from the above photograph. Each of these new bulbs comes in either 150watt, 250watt or 400watt forĀ you energy sucking types with retails supposed to be 20% less than the original bulbs.

We have just received the new “US version” of the Elos SpectraChrome 20K abyss MH bulbs. In the past we made the 14K “coral” and 20K “abyss” SpectraChrome for the US and Europe and they were identical bulbs. Since that time customers in the US asked for a higher kelvin bulb with the same UV-P (UV protection) and quality of the Elos SpectraChrome (in both the 14K and the 20K) so we will now introduce the “US version” 20K “abyss” to replace the current version and the current abyss will now take the place of the “coral” 14K in the US. What this does for the US customer is meet the request to increase the blue spectrum of both the 14k and the 20k Elos MH bulbs. A few customers have already purchased these bulbs and one customer was kind enough to send over some pictures/videos showing the difference in the new US “Abyss” and the previous Abyss MH bulb, which will now be our 14k “Coral” in the US.
