While Ocean Nutrition and San Francisco Bay Brands team didn’t have “new” products to show off at BAYMAC this weekend, we were able to chat with the team a bit about what is happening with the company since San Francisco Bay Brands acquired Ocean Nutrition back in 2009. As the Ocean Nutrition brand came under the SFBB wing in Northern California production operations were still being conducted overseas. To help ensure high quality, SFBB is looking to bring production of the flake foods back to the U.S. and will then shift over pellet food production.
It is a good sign as the company is looking at keeping the strengths of each brand active and continue to make quality foods for your critters. The team was very enthusiastic about the direction both brands are heading and bringing back the production of the flake and pellet foods to the US is just a start.
As we mentioned, the company didn’t have any new products to show off but had a good mix of its products on hand for both brands. We were able to revisit the Ocean Nutrition Nano Reef Coral Food and although the product has been out for a few years, it has been getting favorable reviews. One selling point of the product is the probiotic bacteria added to the food meaning its got a self-cleaning ability. The bacteria will take over and start consuming the food to remove instead of collecting and slowly breaking down and adding to excessive nutrient issues in the tank.
We are looking forward to what these brands will continue to bring to the market and are glad to see both brands striving to bring quality, affordable foods to market.
