We saw the sleek, compact Hydra Retina I LED hit the market last week and looks like another upstart, U.P. Aquarium, is bringing out six new compact LED aquarium lighting systems in three different form factors. Without too much details on the fixtures we see they have versions flexible neck and a rigid mounting arm plus a “Stride” version that spans across the top.
The two flexible versions (see video above) are the UA-F17 that is 6.69 in. long and the UA-F25 9.8 in. version. The rigid versions are the UA-H117 that is 6.69 in. long and the UA-H125 9.8 in. version. There is more information on these lights though and we know the UA-H117 has 3 blue and 27 white LEDs that will most likely give you a cool, crisp white without a lot of blue, as for the larger version expect the same mix of blue and white LEDs but we are unsure about just how many will be packed in.
Finally there is the Stride LED lights that have a slightly adjustable width but straddle across the length of the tank. The smaller UA-S36 Stride LED is rated for 14 in. tanks and the UA-S60 Stride LED is rated at 23.6 in. From their appearance these are strips appear to have a small amount of adjustability on the brackets to get it to fit on a variety of tank sizes.
