As far as unusually colored reef fish go, this yellow faced coral beauty is definitely an eye catching specimen. Captured in Cebu, the yellow face Coral Beauty angelfish is a larger specimen which doesn’t appear to be a hybrid with any other species, but a fully loaded Centropyge bispinosa. The bright yellow golden head is contrasted beautifully with they blue eye and blue lips, a greenish coloration where the yellow meets the purple, vivid yellow pectoral fins and it’s big too.
This stunning golden head/yellow face coral beauty was imported by Aqua Terra Distributors and it has already been shipped to House of Fins, a frequent handler of rare angelfish gems such as the personatus angelfish and the xanthic potter’s angelfish. Aberrant coral beauty angelfish are well documented and although many of them gradually revert to normal coloration in captivity, it would be nice if this specimen retained some aspect of its flameback-wannabe coloration.
