This amazing Australogyra zelli from Malaysia seriously made us do a double take. Looking somewhere between a Hydnophora with the color and texture of a Goniastrea, this farmed color of the true branching moon coral must be endemic to Malaysian Borneo as we’ve never seen a specimen or a picture of an Australogyra like that until now. All the previous Australogyra we’ve seen from the Solomon Islands are an imaginary, bland brownish green but this A. zelli has screaming neon green in the corallite valleys. Once grown out an Australogyra of this color and caliber will look like a heavy duty staghorn coral but with fluorescent green stripes and valleys all over its surface. Can’t wait to see these green valley branching moon corals exported for the aquarium trade.
