When it comes to aberrant fishes, it’s always a hit and miss with each individual person when it comes to beauty. What may appear to be extraordinarily beautiful, may appear hideous to another.
The above coral beauty (Centropyge bispinosa) that came in to Singapore from the indo-pacific is a stunner in terms of its unique pattern and coloration. The aberrant fish is colored yellowish and black, two colors that are normally absent on the otherwise purple and orange fish. The blotchy water-colored effect enhances it’s beauty.
As with many aberrant and xanthic fishes, it is unclear if the coloration will maintain this way, change into something totally different, or perhaps even slowly reverting back to it’s normal, typical coral beauty colors. With a retail price just shy of 1k USD, it’s an expensive gamble for anyone to take.
