As in years past, House of Fins’ annual SPLASH sale yielded lots of awesome rare fish, and there were many exciting first imports. In addition to the tigertail coral beauty and that crazy Mauritius triggerfish, there was the token gem tang and some funky wrasses but the bluefin lionfish really caught our eye. Parapterois heterura is a very unusual and beautiful lionfish which is rare and somewhat challenging to keep – it was a pleasure and a rare treat to see one in person. Other noteworthy fish included a great looking Terelabrus hogfish that was snapped up by Tony Vargas and some unusual morphs of saddle clownfish and the Blue Ice clownfish (or anemonefish as Adam Blundell insists on calling them)/ Check out the menagerie of rare reef fish that were offered up at House of Fins 2011 SPLASH sale after the break.
