The Mu Series 100 and 135 LEDs are new reef aquarium LED light fixtures from BoostLED which are equipped with a few LEDs in the ‘exotic’ end of the blue light spectrum. In addition to the standard neutral white and royal blue LEDs both of the Mu Series 100 and 135 lights are equipped with true Violet LEDs with a peak emission of roughly 400nm; these should register some output in the UV end of the spectrum, technicaly these are near UV in color like the ole 405nm stunner LED.
Even if their housings are somewhat uninspired, (it ain’t no NanoBox Reef) it’s what’s under the hood that counts and what it’ll cost you to take one home. The Mu Series 135 LED is about 120 watts of LED light for $400 with only the 90 and 120 degree primary optics. The Mu Series 100 is $350 but it uses 60 degree secondary lenses which means that this fixture is better suited to delivering a good lighting intensity deeper into an aquarium. For more information, complete details and to get your own check out the Mu Series LEDs on the BoostLED website.
