Tigger-Feast is a new refrigerated form of Reef Nutrition’s popular Tigger-Pods, previously only available in live form. Although the concentration of Tigger-Pods has steadily risen over the years, the new Tigger-Feast is a concentrated to the max with the little Tigriopus californicus copepods which themselves are packed with nutrition.
As a good card-carrying SPS junky we’ve been addicted to feeding our Acros and Stylos the tiny copepods in frozen Cyclopeeze for over a decade. So naturally, once we got a hold of some of Reef Nutrition’s new Tigger-Feast we had to compare it to our old favorite red copepod fish food.
There is no freaking way we’re doing a taste test between Tigger-Feast and Cyclopeeze but they certainly do look very similar. Whereas Reef Nutrition’s Arcti-pods are loaded with bits of partial ‘pods, in this case the Tigger-Feast is actually much more homogenous and free of debris than the thawed, frozen Cyclopeeze.
When fed to our little fish with tiny mouths we saw no difference in feeding response between the larger redder Cyclopeeze and Tigger-Feast, the only real difference so far being how long it takes to thaw a cube of Cyclopeeze vs just squirting some chilled Tigger-Feast in the tank. WE suppose that the nutritional content of both pods are probably similar, in any case the tiny fish and small polyps are in no position to complaing.
