For all of you who wondered who was fighting for the “aquarist” in all the ongoing turmoil over the proposals to ban aquarium collection in Hawaii, the playing field just became a little more level. MASNA (Marine Aquarium Societies of North America) officially announced the HawaiiBanFactCheck.org website late in the evening of February 9th,2012.
The release includes MASNA’s official statements, as well as addressing FAQs, providing at-a-glance insights into ongoing legislation and fisheries data. Perhaps the easiest way to follow for updates will be to like the Hawaii Ban Fact Check Facebook page.
For all those times I’ve heard people asking and wondering what MASNA “does” beyond “MACNA” (the Marine Aquarium Conference of North America), well, I think you just got your answer. No doubt this represents some Herculean efforts, largely on the part of volunteers no less. THANK YOU and Bravo to everyone involved. And if you’re not a MASNA member yet, maybe it’s time you, your club, or your business, got behind this organization and became a MASNA member.
