The Fantasia LED from AcquaGear is part striplight, part fixture and flexible enough to alternate between the two functions. AcquaGear’s Fantasia LED comes with three striplights mounted to a side arm forming an attractive bridge of LED lights on rimless and traditional rimmed aquariums. On paper (or a computer screen) it may seem like the Fantasia is just another LED striplight based fixture but having seen it in person, we can tell you that AcquaGear has tapped into some of the best parts of side mounted LED lights like the Vitrea but has made it more affordable by using simple design and extruded aluminum metal.
The Fantasia LED comes in four lengths, from 3, 4, 5 and 6 feet long, each with two blue LED striplights and one white one in the middle. The LEDs used by AcquaGear are all Cree XP Blue, Royal Blue and a mixture of cool white and neutral white LEDs, all of which rely on their primary lens for smooth even coverage of light in the aquarium.
Other colors of LED striplights like white, red and UV can be easily swapped out in this fixture which also includes some remote-controlled timer functions. A few simple buttons on the included remote allow the user to access all blue or all white lighting, and it allows you to set the beginning of a standard 12hr lighting cycle with ten total steps of increasing to decreasing lighting intensity.
Better yet, the AcquaGear Fantasia is an affordable LED light which delivers 90 brand name Cree XP LEDs in a 48″ fixture for $899 – we believe the LEDs are driven at about 2 watts each, so you get 180 watts of high performance LEDs for only $5 per watt. The AcquaGear Fantasia is still a very new light so we don’t know any stores selling it yet, but if you are interested you can certainly visit the AcquaGear website for yourself and buy it direct from them.
