Reef Spec by Red Sea is a trio of T5 fluorescent lamps for marine and reef aquarium which has figured out that three good color combinations is almost everything to make reef fish and corals look slammin’. Red Sea will soon be releasing the Reef Spec aquarium T5 tubes in three colors, including Reef-Spec BlueWhite with an average color temperature of 15,000K, Reef-Spec Actinic with a rating of 22,000 Kelvin and Reef-Spec Pink which doesn’t have an exact color spectrum given but it is sure to enhance the pinks, reds and purple colors within an aquarium.
The German made Red Sea Reef-Spec line will come in all typical sizes with lengths in two, three, four and five feet long with the typical high output power consumption of 24, 39, 54 and 80 watts respectively. The Reef-Spec T5 lamps will be launching soon in the UK with an msrp starting at £18.95 ($29.40) but the North American pricing will probably come in a hair under the exact exchange rate with the british pound.
With three colors of the Red Sea Reef Spec line, you should be able to come up with some great color combinations in the Red Sea Max and Max S series of all in one marine aquariums. If we had to go with only three colors of T5 lamps the actinic, bright white and pink colored Reef Spec tubes is pretty close to what we would aim for, but there’s room for a bright blue and daylight white colored lamp in the combination, a color palette which T5 users will no doubt experiment with from other manufacturers anyway.
