Precision Marine has been playing around with a modular system for a substrate reactor they are testing with biopellets. On first glance, they are getting solid results (no pun intended) spinning five liters of biopellets in a system with a pair of 18 in. tall, 6 in. diameter tubes coupled together. Attached to this pair of reactors is a Sicce Synchra Model 1.5 that is doing a rather nice job keeping things fluidized. The team is planning on pushing the limits heading it up to 3 and 4 1/2 feet. This is interesting and could be an affordable way to add more biopellet punch to larger systems without having to invest in one larger reactor allowing you to customize your system as stocking and filtration needs change over time.
