There exists countless examples of toy and robot fish but besides those giant lighter than air fish-blimps, these new little robofish are actually cheap enough to be an impulse buy. Debuted at the Tokyo Toy Fair the small Robofish are not controllable but they are programmed to pulse their tail flaps in a realistic manner. Coming in a natural orange or a hyper unnatural blue, the clownfish-themed Robofish run on a couple of watch batteries and they seem to alternate between diving behavior and surface swimming. Priced at just 15€ or about $19, the RoboFish is cheap enough for the average fish store to stock as a fun accessory. We can only imagine how an overly aggressive tomato or maroon clownfish would react if one of these Robofish got anywhere near its home anemone. Check out the hyper-realistic fish swimming motion after the break, no details on where you can pick one up yet.
