Randall’s Assessor has only been available in the U.S. in limited numbers and sporadic shipments for what seems like barely a year but ORA is already on the ball with another first. Since they already held the title for first to breed the yellow assessor and Macneill’s assessor on a commercial basis, it would only be fitting that ORA be add Randall’s assesor the the list.
ORA made the news public in a recent blog post that their first clutch of captive bred Randall’s assessor would hopefully be available sometime early next year. Part of the reason that it is possible for ORA to offer F1 Randall’s Assessor is that this species is a nesting species like the yellow assessor, and not a mouthbrooder like the Macneill’s, so they therefore have much larger clutch sizes.
The cute little captive bred Assessor randalli shown in ORA’s video demonstrate how this species could make a great little schooling fish.
