As the fishing season comes upon us, in April, Piscine Energetics will be selectively targeting the harvest of smaller sized mysis shrimp. The mysis shrimp rise from the depths of their freshwater lake with the smaller individuals coming up first, and historically PE has combined all sizes of their famous mysis shrimp.
The smaller, younger mysis are approximately half the size of the jumbo frozen mysis we are used to seeing from Piscine Energetics making them ideal and suitable for use with smaller fish, especially the pickier small mouthed wrasses, seahorses, pipefish etc. After years of fishing mysis shrimp from Lake Okanagan, PE has gained some experience and knowledge of when and where to harvest the smaller crustaceans, making it possible to bring this new size to market.
The new smaller PE Mysis could become available early this summer and they will be packaged in a pink flat pink with the rosy color intimating the baby size of the popular food.
