It only took 13 years but the ZooMed PowerSweep Powerhead that took the ‘Mini Reef’ world by storm is finally ditching the pump. Recently ZooMed started showing off the Power Sweep Filter Attachment and as the name implies, this add on will be mounted on the end of some kind of water return line to produce an oscillation of direct flow.
Like the manual neck cleaner from Deltec, the most useful part of the Power Sweep is finally going to get unhitched from the powerhead part, opening up a whole world of possibilities for directing a range of flow across a 180 swath. No word on pricing, availability, additional sizes or what kind of flow rate the new Power Sweep Filter Attachment will be able to handle but there’s likely thousands of reef tanks that could benefit from the modified flow pattern.
