The HydroJet is a highly performance centrifugal pump by Panta Rhei with the same breed of hyper efficient electrical motor as the HydroWizard pumps. In development for some time, the HydroJet codename “63” can be used externally or submerged and it will be suitable for just about any application that aquarists can throw at it.
To start, the HydroJet will be available with a choice of two interchangeable intakes, one for mounting tubes, the other one for free flow intake. The motor of the HydroJet 63 is similar to the HydroWizard motor but tuned to operate at higher speed. The high RPM of the HydroJet is capable of delivering up to 18,000 liters per hour (4,750gph) and head pressures up to 8 meters (26 feet).
Panta Rhei is hard at work making the HydroJet a highly versatile water pump, exploring new designs for needle wheel skimmers and controlling options. It would be a cinch for Panta Rhei to give the HydroJet the same controller as the HydroWizard Medium, at a price, and they are also looking at offering a simple tuning knob to adjust flow speed.
If they know what’s good for them Panta Rhei will get in touch with aquarium controller manufacturers for optimum interoperability (Apex Ready + maybe?). Pricing and availability is still up in the air, but we can see the HydroJet giving some serious competition to the Red Dragon and Abyzz pumps when it ships.
