ReefNatura is a popular livestock and dry goods retailer located in Setubal, Portugal, with a seriously cool show tank. Maintained and designed by the store’s owner Ricardo Santos, a hardcore reef keeper like ourselves, the tank is definitely a sight to behold.
The display shown measures approximately 79 x 25.5 x 16 in. (200 x 65 x 55 cm), which amounts to around 189 gallons (715 liters) but the tank is also plumbed into a 90 gallon (343 liter ) 55 x 27.5 x 13.5 inches (140 x 70 x 35 cm) SPS frag tank and a 32 gallon (122 liter) 27.5 x 19.5 x 13.5 inches (70 x 50 x 35 cm) LPS/ soft coral frag tank. Including the sump the total system volume thus comes to around 290 gallons (1100 liters)

The lighting on main display is provided by DIY T5 fluorescent fixture with seven ATI 24 watt bulbs and seven ATI 54 watt bulbs. Flow is met by a combination of a Tunze WaveBox, Tunze Nanostream 6055 and a Vortech MP40W. A 2600 GPH DC pump (10,000 lph) serves as return.
Filtration is provided by a Grotech HEA 200 skimmer and some liverock along with carbon passively ran in a filter bag. They perform 30-gallon (120 liter) water changes every other week. Calcium levels and such are maintained by a Deltec PF601 calcium reactor along with a standard Balling system ran with a dosing pump. The tank used to be a full on Zeovit system (and Vodka before that) but Ricardo Santos admits that he’s been very sloppy with the doses lately. That said the tank is occasionally dosed Amino Acids, Coral Vitalizer, Bio-Mate and lately Flatworm stop.
