A La Carte sia new suite of whole foods from Aquarium Systems that aim to meet the nutritional needs of both fish and corals. Aquarium Systems’ new A La Carte foods consist of three different types of dried seaweeds, two types of pellets and a special new coral & reef food called ReefMist.
The dried seaweeds in the flatpacks are said to be comparable to Two Little Fishes’ Sea Veggies with 15g quantities each of red seaweed, Palmaria palmara, Purple Seaweed, Porphyra umbilicalis, Green Seaweed, Porphyra yezoensis and a 30g bag with flakes of all three colors. The A La Carte algae and marine pellets and the so-called ReefMist dessert are more prepared foods with a suite of extremely nutritious ingredients. Spirulina, Haematococcus, Dunaliella and the current wunderkid of marine phytoplanktons Chlorella are all substantial ingredients in A La Carte to make it a truly fortifying meal for reef animals.
American reefers can stick to the OG Sea Veggies for most of the same whole seaweed food source while European marine aquarists will be able to give these a spin later this summer. Everyone’s got really great pelleted fish foods these days but the ReefMist is the one product we’d like to see getting caught in the tentacles of our filter feeders. There are no plans to distribute the European Aquarium Systems’ A La Carte foods in Nothe America just yet but hopefully a little ReefMist can ride along with the Seatest Control System when it eventually crosses the pond.
