Polyp Lab, makers of the popular ReefRoids coral foods has just released a new product called Polyp Booster. Polyp Booster, depending on how you look at it is part coral feeding stimulant and part very fine coral food for the smallest of the smallest polyps.
Polyp Lab is a super concentrated nutrition that includes 18 Amino Acids and 12 fatty acids. With a protein content of 60% and astaxanthin pigment levels between 90 and 120ppm, Polyp Booster is kind of like Selcon meets Cyclopeeze. Polyp Booster is available in a 100ml dropper bottle for $27.
We took Polyp Booster for a spin on a couple tanks and the claims don’t lie. Although a half of a dropper is reccommended for each 60 gallons, we stuck to about one drop per 30 gallons which was plenty enough to get chalice coral polyps tripping over each other to extend and see what is going on in the water column.
Not surprisingly, all the fish, shrimp and inverts went nuts too so there’s also some potential for PolypBooster to be a supplement for prepared fish foods and as an appetite stimulant for fish that are finicky eaters. But as with all nutrient dense aquarium supplements, be sure to use in moderation and only when it is truly called for because while corals surely love the dinner bell that Polyp Booster creates, its constituents can also break down and spur algae growth, so use sparingly.
