Colin’s Angelfish is a rare deep water species found in Western Pacific. Good healthy specimens are often on top of the wishing list for Centropyge lover. This secretive species is often exported from collectors in Indonesia and the Philippines with low survival rate due to the poor collection and transportation. Without sustained effort many Colin’s angelfish fish will refuse to eat and die in a short period of their existence in the aquarium. And they have never been known to export out of other places.
Just only a few weeks earlier, we were informed by Crazy Aquarium in Bangkok that Cairns Marine is offering this highly sought after in their stock list and they already ordered for a pair. This is the first time that we heard that the Aussie is exporting this species. Soon the fish made their way to the shop, they look more pale in color than those Philippines/ Indonesian relatives. It is clearly seen that the fish got a good response to the people standing in front and look in a very good shape, hopefully they will start to eat soon.
If you are one of the people who want to try these guys, be prepared for a premium price tag for Australian Colin’s angelfish that is at least three times the going rate. But if you get an Australian Colin’s angelfish your chances for aquarium success will also be much improved and it’s a heck of a lot cheaper than getting the much rarer and very expensive Narcosis angelfish.
