The JBJ Pacifica DX is the next generation LED light announced by the manufacturer last week at SuperZoo. We were critical of the initial JBJ Pacifica and are hoping the JBJ Pacifica DX is a step in the right direction. Overall, the fixture looks similar but appears to have slimmed down in a sleek 17.75 x 9.5 x .75 in. profile and packing 150W of LED punch.
The Pacifica DX uses better LEDs this time opting for Edison OPTO diodes but we aren’t sure which exact ones are used in the light. The brief description we saw does mention using multi-chip LEDs with the latest optics and diodes which is a good sign.
Breaking down the 150W of LEDs in the new Pacifica DX is 24W of 420nm blue LEDs for supplementation and getting a full dawn-to-dusk cycle, 63W of 10,000K and 63W of 20,000K white LEDs. We assume the latter two are done with multichip LEDs with a blend of blue and white LEDs. There are also three onboard fans to help keep the fixture cool.
The kit includes a tank mount for rimless and braced aquariums. There is probably also a ceiling mount for those of you looking to suspend it over your tank. We are hoping to see the price of this lamp to stay under the $500 mark considering the plethora of advanced lights on the market at this price. More details should be coming soon and expect these to be ready around the end of the year.
